About 75% of households in Tanzania are engaged in agricultural activities. At the same time the sector contributes only 33% to the country’s GDP.
The factors that make agriculture in Tanzania and other countries in East Africa inefficient include:
- lack of information, knowledge and appropriate skills in agriculture
- insufficient infrastructure i.e. cooling facilities and transport
- lack of venture capital/difficult access to loans
- low level of networking among agripreneurs for knowledge sharing and lobbying power
With this project we aim to address some of these points, above all the education of future agripreneurs and the facilitation of a thriving network of innovators and entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector in Tanzania and East Africa.
